Overview

Experience Rwanda’s extraordinary primate wildlife over 5 days, including chimpanzees in Nyungwe National Park and golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy cultural experiences and scenic highlights, with your first night in Nyungwe NP.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali Airport → Nyungwe NP

• Arrival at Kigali Airport. Meet & greet by representative.
  
  

• If early arrival: transfer to Kigali hotel to relax.
  
  

• Kigali city tour: visit cultural sites and local markets (lunch included).
  
  

• Drive to Nyungwe National Park and check into lodge.
  
  

• Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking – Nyungwe NP

• Early breakfast and guided hike to track chimpanzees.
  
  

• Spot other wildlife and migratory birds: Ross’ turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrow, hawks, and regal sunbird.
  
  

• Afternoon tea plantation experience.
  
  

• Transfer to Lake Kivu shore for relaxation.
  
  

• Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Nyungwe → Volcanoes NP

• Morning boat cruise exploring Lake Kivu islands.
  
  

• Drive to Volcanoes NP with a stop at Kopakiki Coffee Cooperative for Rwanda coffee experience.
  
  

• Afternoon at leisure at lodge.

Day 4: Golden Monkeys & Cultural Experience – Volcanoes NP

• Trek to observe golden monkeys in Volcanoes NP (spend 1 hour).
  
  

• Lunch at lodge or Musanze local restaurant.
  
  

• Afternoon cultural visit at Gorilla Guardians / Ibyiwacu Cultural Village.
  
  

• Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Volcanoes NP → Kigali
